*** View Only. Vehicle Not For Sale out of Collection! *** This is car Number 381 out of only 435 units produced. This one-year-only limited production automobile was designed by famous coach builder Howard 'Dutch' Darrin and produced by industrialist Henry Kaiser's, Kaiser-Frazer Auto Company. This was the first American sports car as its prototype was introduced prior to that of the Corvette or Ford Thunderbird. This was and is the only car ever produced with the patented sliding doors. It features a 161cid L head 6 cylinder Willys engine with a Henry J 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. It also has a 3-position landau convertible top, stainless steel wire wheel covers, wide white wall tires, complete full body undercoating and heater. It is finished in the original Pine Tint color with matching interior and top as it was designed and manufactured originally. Extreme attention to detail was taken through the entire restoration process to create a restored vehicle exactly to original specifications. It features all correct grain vinyls and colorings. It is a true and correct concours restoration with the awards to prove it. This beautiful car has won many prestigious concours events. Its heritage is unsurpassed by any other United States sports cars. It has won the SCCA overall Concours Championship and has won in Carmel, Hillsborough, Palo Alto, Palos Verdes and many more locations. It was the cover car in the February 2012 edition of The Motor Market magazine. It is a very beautiful example of the first American Sports Car. Mechanically sorted and road worthy, this Darrin is also offered with a portfolio documenting the restoration, sales brochures, USPS memorabilia of the stamp designed after this car and many, many trophies.
